August is upon us; this month can help us connect deeply with ourselves and see it as an invitation to slow down and relax.


Summer energy is active, hot, fire energy. It is the ultimate yang energy and a time for fulfilment. Summer is a time to fulfill what you have been preparing for, creating or manifesting. It is exciting energy with a laid-back attitude.


Summer energy allows us to be swept up, manifest what we’ve been working on and come to fruition. It can be a time of great satisfaction, and with that, it can come as a welcomed relief.

August is Summer Slow Down


I thought it would be fun to create monthly themes to help us connect and celebrate each other. The theme for August is slowing down, to unwind and meditate, enjoy just being and not doing.


Here are suggested practices for August.


  • Journal Themes - Checking in with yourself, Listening to your heart, Gratitude

  • Pranayama – Sheetkari pranayam

  • Meditation – Summer Slowdown, Rest and Be

  • Practice – Vinyasa and Yin yoga

  • Body System Heart Chakra – Learn to listen to your heart and expand your curiosity and self-awareness.

Summer, the Fire Element


Because the power of Fire is felt most intensely in summer, summer may be the best time for you to concentrate on rebuilding the energy consumed during the winter and spring months.


So as much as we would like to relax in August, we may find ourselves needing to take action, to rebuild. However, make sure to find a balance between action and being, between social events and time to be in your garden, or relax in your hammock, and allow the earth to nourish you and recharge your battery pack.
